Show criteriaDigital signage is a means of communication based on modern digital mediums such as a large format displays (LFD), ledwalls and touch tables. Communication of this kind is generally customer oriented (B2C) and tailored to a target audience on the basis of previous collected data and assumptions on users' behaviors.
In this context, as a content owner (e.g. company, public authority), find innovative ways to use Open Data (OD) to automatically tailor contents displayed on LFDs fostering an higher user's engagement. Users' engagement can be passive or interactive (i.e. OD is used as a starting point but customers can further interact with contents).
- Open data can be retrieved from both local (Open Data Hub) and international sources.
- Contents can be grouped/categorized automatically or manually.
- Contents can change dynamically under certain conditions.
- Interaction with LFD (i.e. from your smarphone) is possible but has to be safe (e.g. avoid multiple persons to control the display at the same time).

Show criteriaThe AlpineBits Reference implementation on the Open Data Hub consists mostly of the following data types:
-
large amount of description and geo-location data on events (venues), mountain areas, lifts, snowparks, and ski slopes
-
limited amount in terms of multimedia descriptions (videos and photos) mainly due to licensing issues
In numbers: approximately 27.000 events, 450 lifts, 30 mountain areas, 20 snowparks, 1200 ski slopes
The idea is to have an application allowing users not only to read data but also to enrich/annotate/enhance with multimedia data.
Just a bunch of ideas what the product could be:
-
An evaluating application similar to tripadvisor and Google Maps and others
-
A game similar to a “Treasure Hunt” where people have to visit a certain mountain area (ski slope, lifts, snow park, ...) and have to submit a photo from the place
No restrictions which technology the solution is based on. It can either be a plugin for a CMS, a Widget such as a web component, a mobile application or some other function.
Note: At the moment, there is no official API to send data back to the Open Data Hub but this could be a very interesting extension in a further step.
